As mentioned in the reel, libraries are so much more than just places for borrowing books! They serve as community hubs, offering an array of activities, resources, and services for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking for a fun family event, a place to work, or even unique equipment to borrow, your local library has something to offer. Here's a breakdown of all the exciting library-sponsored activities and helpful public services available to you:

Our website has all the latest information on activities, art classes, board meetings, current board members, library staff and even an interactive library for littles. You can also renew your books, place a hold or find a new book to read. Not sure what to read? We have book reviews from patrons and our very own librarians. Or leave your own review to share what you loved or didn't about a book. Our home page offers several free educational resources to the community and has all the info you need on our many public services. You will also find a blog with local highlights, book highlights and great ways to make reading more engaging.


Library-Sponsored Activities


Designed for preschool-age children, Story-Time is a fun and interactive session held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Children engage in letter learning, wiggle sessions, puppet shows, crafts, and, of course, a delightful story. It’s a perfect way to kickstart your child’s love for reading!

A few times a year, the library organizes free family activities that bring people together for fun and learning. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy quality time with loved ones while participating in enjoyable and enriching activities.

Looking for an exciting summer challenge? For the first four weeks of June, the library hosts a Summer Reading Program, offering fun activities and a chance to earn prizes by completing a reading challenge. Be sure to sign up and keep the kids engaged with reading all summer long!

Every first and third Wednesday of the month from 4:30 – 5:30 PM during the school year, kids in grades 2 through 6 can join the After-School Book Club. The club is a fantastic opportunity for children to share the books they've read, engage in thoughtful discussions, and participate in a new activity each week. Special guests, including NASA, INL, and even the local aquarium. Join to inspire and educate.

Teen Book Club

Our Teen Book Club offers a unique experience where each participant chooses a book from a specific genre to read. The best part? Everyone reads a different book! Teens then gather to discuss their reading experiences and share insights with one another. It’s a great way for teens to explore new genres and books while expanding their literary horizons. They meet every Thursday during lunch and advisory. Just have your teen come to the library front desk to sign-up.

Adult Book Club

For adults looking to enjoy some great reads, the Adult Book Club picks a different book each month. The library provides the books, making it easy and affordable to take part in lively discussions about literature.

Our library offers a variety of books in bulk to help you get your own book club started. Just fill out our Book Club form to let us know what titles you are interested in and the day and time if you would like to schedule our community room to host it in.


Public Services at the Library


Notary Public Services

Did you know the library offers notary services? With three notaries on staff, you can get your documents notarized at your convenience, whether it's morning, afternoon, or evening. This service is free, and no appointment is necessary—though if you're on a time crunch, scheduling ahead is recommended.

Proctored Exams

Need a proctored exam? The library has three trained proctors who are ready to assist you with your exam needs. This service is free, but you’ll need to make an appointment in advance to ensure the proctors are prepared for your exam. Computers and Internet Access

The library offers seven computers that are free for public use. Whether you need to catch up on work, research a topic, or simply browse the web, these computers are available to help you get things done. You can also print documents and more from these stations.


Unique Items Available for Checkout


Ever wanted to stargaze up close? The library offers a telescope for checkout, complete with lenses, a stand, and a carrying case. It’s a great way to explore the night sky without the investment in expensive equipment.

Quilting Supplies

If you’re interested in quilting but not sure where to start, the library has quilting supplies available for checkout. It’s a perfect way to experiment without the cost of buying everything up front.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn the ukulele, the library has ukuleles available for checkout, complete with a music book, tuner, and carrying case. Pick one up and start strumming!

These kits, donated by generous supporters, are a great resource for preschool to kindergarten-age children. They contain interactive learning games, books, magnetic numbers and letters, felt storyboards, and more. It’s a fun way to make learning come alive for young children.

Does your child LOVE pirates, dinosaurs, trucks? Our book kits have several books in a theme. There are many options to choose from. It’s an easy way to grab several books you know your child will enjoy reading.

Easels

Need an easel for a presentation or booth? The library offers easels for patrons to use. Whether you're hosting an event or simply need a space for your work, these easels are available when needed.

Board Games & Card Games

While not available for checkout, the library boasts a great selection of board games, card games, giant Legos, and blocks. These are perfect for staying a little longer and enjoying the library with family or friends.


Affordable Services


Need a poster printed? The library offers poster printing services at cost for schools, non-profits, and individuals. Whether it's a regular paper, weather-resistant poly, or weather-proof scrim, they can handle the printing for you. (Note: These services are provided at cost, so if you're looking for professional design work and quality, consider using a local printing company).

For students working on senior projects or other school assignments, the library offers tri-fold poster boards for only $4.50 each during the last trimester of the school year. Also, available are a full size poster paper (28"x22") for $1.00 or a half sheet (14"x 22") for $0.50.

The library has a vinyl cutter for creating wall designs, window advertisements, and more. This is perfect for anyone looking to add a creative touch to their space!

One of the most exciting offerings at the library is 3D printing! The library prints small items for kids for free (one per child to ensure every little gets one), but you can also bring in your own design or request a custom print. For just $1 per hour, it’s a fun and affordable way to bring your ideas to life.

Help preserve any project with lamination. It is a dollar a foot.


Rooms Available for Patron Use


Conference Room

The library has a small conference room equipped with a table and two computers, ideal for meetings, small book clubs, or job interviews. It’s available for anyone who needs a quiet space for collaboration or work.

Community Room

For larger events or activities, the library’s community room can be reserved for use. It’s perfect for teaching classes, hosting clubs, or organizing community events. This room is available for public use, so contact the library to schedule it for your next event.

To schedule either the Conference Room or the Community Room, simply drop by the library or call us at 208-684-3063. We’d be happy to help you book the perfect space for your needs.


Comfy Reading Spots


Throughout our library we have several couches, love seats and chairs to sink into and read. We also have several tables for work spaces, study time, project prepping or whatever you may need.
