Finding AR (Accelerated Reader) Books in the Library & Online

Here is a quick guide to help you and your student find AR books in the library, along with online book options as well. The best part is you can see how many points each book is worth. Let's get into it!

Finding Library AR Books

Step 1: If at home, navigate to the library website's homepage. In the top menu you will see an icon of a person reading a book. Give it a click and you will be directed to our library catalog on Destiny Discover (see below).

Step 2: If already at the library, our patron computer is set to start searching. Click on the filter icon located to the right of the search bar. This will bring up an option to do an "advanced search" through our library catalog.

Step 3: In the advanced search box click on "Reading Programs" and choose "Accelerated Reader." This will ensure you only search books that have AR points.

Step 4: Go to the search bar and type in a title, topic or author and click "Search".

Step 5: Choose a book from the list of options and click on "View More Details" in the pop-up.

Step 6: Scroll down near the bottom to click on "More Info" to see the reading level, quiz number and points details. That's it! Easy-peasy!

Library Tip: If you are searching AR books from home, you can always place a hold on any "Available" book to ensure it is reserved for pick-up during your next library visit, or to be placed on a reserve-list for any book that is currently Checked-Out. Find Online AR Books with Tumble Book Library

In a time-crunch? Check out the free library-provided service of Tumble Book Library.

For desktops/laptops (this can be done from home or at the library)--Step 1: Navigate to our library homepage, scroll down to our "Resources" section, and click on the Tumble Book Library icon.

Step 2: In the top menu click the "Common Core" option for a list of grade and reading levels to choose from.

Step 3: Click the "Grade and Reading Level" appropriate for your student.

Step 4: Choose a book title from the compiled list.

Step 5: On the bottom right of the book summary page click on the green "Info" word.

Step 6: This will reveal how many points the book is worth. Click "READ ONLINE" under the books picture and your off!
